چکیده

We propose a labeling scheme for unweighted undirected graphs, that is an assignment of binary labels to vertices of a graph such that the distance between any pair of vertices can be decoded solely from their labels. Recently, Alstrup et al. [3] have shown a labeling scheme for sparse graphs with labels of size O( n D log D) where D = logn log m+n n . We present a simpler approach achieving size O( n D logD) with O(n) decoding time. Based on similar techniques we also present a scheme for general graphs with labels of size log 3 2 n+ o(n) with small decoding time (any ω(1) decoding time is possible), or labels of size ( log 3 2 + ε)n and decoding time O(1). This almost matches the currently best scheme of Alstrup et al. [4] which uses labels of size log 3 2 n+ o(n) with decoding time O(1). We believe our simple techniques are of independent value and provide a desirable simplification of the previous approaches.

Hub-Accelerator: Fast and Exact Shortest Path Computation in Large Social Networks

Shortest path computation is one of the most fundamental operations for managing and analyzing large social networks. Though existing techniques are quite effective for finding the shortest path on large but sparse road networks, social graphs have quite different characteristics: they are generally non-spatial, non-weighted, scale-free, and they exhibit small-world properties in addition to th...

Application of n-distance balanced graphs in distributing management and finding optimal logistical hubs

Optimization and reduction of costs in management of distribution and transportation of commodity are one of the main goals of many organizations. Using suitable models in supply chain in order to increase efficiency and appropriate location for support centers in logistical networks is highly important for planners and managers. Graph modeling can be used to analyze these problems and many oth...

Optimal Hub Labeling is NP-complete

Distance labeling is a preprocessing technique introduced by Peleg [Journal of Graph Theory, 33(3)] to speed up distance queries in large networks. Herein, each vertex receives a (short) label and, the distance between two vertices can be inferred from their two labels. One such preprocessing problem occurs in the hub labeling algorithm [Abraham et al., SODA’10]: the label of a vertex v is a se...

Sublinear Distance Labeling

A distance labeling scheme labels the n nodes of a graph with binary strings such that, given the labels of any two nodes, one can determine the distance in the graph between the two nodes by looking only at the labels. A D-preserving distance labeling scheme only returns precise distances between pairs of nodes that are at distance at least D from each other. In this paper we consider distance...

Title : Hub Labeling ( 2 - Hop Labeling ) Name : Daniel Delling 1 , Andrew

Given a directed graph G = (V, A) (with n = |V | and m = |A|) with a length function : A → R + and a pair of vertices s, t, a distance oracle returns the distance dist(s, t) from s to t. A labeling algorithm [18] implements distance oracles in two stages. The preprocessing stage computes a label for each vertex of the input graph. Then, given s and t, the query stage computes dist(s, t) using o...
